English Community Round-up
Welcome to the news round-up for the English Community. Each week, we will keep you in touch with some of the most important threads within the forum together with some of the fun posts, so that you never need to miss them.

Community round-up is your weekly source for all that happens inside
the PokerStrategy forums. If you missed something last week and you
still want to be in touch with our community, here are some of the most
important posts. This is just one of many community-related projects
being set up.
Congratulations to community member kingdippy2008, who joined the ranks of English Community Moderators this week.
Moderators help the Community Managers (Head Admins) to keep the forum well organised, friendly and welcoming to all visitors and assist fellow members wherever possible with their questions and queries.
Want to know more about kingdippy2008 or any of our community moderators? well look out for the "Meet the Mods" interviews which will be appearing in a couple of weeks time.
This weeks Blog of the Week is 897's Continuing Saga, now featuring Fixed Limit from community member 8979687.
A great read & nice poker set up photos 🙂 but one question still remains, what do the numbers represent? Answers on a postcard please, my initial thoughts are as follows:
- Members most favourite number between 1 and 10,000,000 (hmm unlikely);
- Telephone number of an ex girlfriend/boyfriend (possibly);
- Number of times their Aces have been cracked (more likely);
- Current Bankroll balance (hopefully);

Judge alejandrosh: "They can be good, both flush draws missed , there are worse two pair that doesn't have you beat. But imo you can raise preflop and play the whole hand more agressive, 2 posters this hand has to be ahead"

spotlight on
Spotlight this week on community member excelgeo, interviewed by eaglestar88.
excelgeo: Hi, thanks for offering me the interview, i wasnt expecting it lol. |
|
PokerStrategy: You like being creative with photos etc?
excelgeo: no i used this one to make a t-shirt for a gig i was doing.
PokerStrategy: Nice one. Is there a story behind the nickname, does it have any special meaning?
excelgeo: Well. I used to do graffiti as a kid and used the name excel and by the time i found out it is also for a washing machine as well as a car i was too attached to it. And my name is George, so excelgeo. It is as lame as it can be. my mate calls me geoexcel which has a gay undertone in Greek. It is a disaster.
PokerStrategy: How long have you been playing poker?
A>> I started a few years ago. played for a month or two, lost and quit. then i found PokerStrategy.com in November and I have been playing A LOT since.
PokerStrategy: How would you describe your poker style?
excelgeo: It varies. depends on my mood, I can be loose aggressive or tight aggressive, and often very stupid. Sometimes I play really tight and I call that "break even poker". Which often yields profit and I try to do it often although you really have to be in the zone for making some folds I make.
PokerStrategy: Which variants are you currently playing and at what levels?
excelgeo: I only play NL holdem. My favorite limits are NL50 but I recently cashed out, played over my means and ended up grinding it out AGAIN in NL10. A lesson to be learnt there I guess. I have always been playing short stack and very rarely BSS. but i have decided to give BSS a go, will start from NL10 and see how it goes. I do enjoy it more though.
PokerStrategy: Do you ever play any live events, or are you mainly online based?
excelgeo: I rarely go to the casino. But i do love it every time i play live.
PokerStrategy: If you had to have a theme tune to enter a poker tournament to (like boxers when they enter the ring), what would it be?
excelgeo: Insomnia by Faithless. But seeing how im playing recently, It would be more like Get up Stand up by Bob Marley.
PokerStrategy: Hehe, oh dear that bad huh? Who are your favourite poker pro's and why?
excelgeo: Negreanu, for the obvious reasons. Farha, because he is just so cool. Hellmuth, because he is really good (11 bracelets don't lie) and Tom Dwan, perhaps the most exciting player to watch at the moment, this guy has a lot of heart. He is fast becoming my favourite player. I really laugh when people say he is a donk with money. Like he was born with money... He made it all online and he is only 21 or something stupid like that.
PokerStrategy: What has been your biggest success/achievement in poker so far?
excelgeo: Finished 3rd in a $3 rebuy 1000 player MTT. that was good. But i mainly play cash, I am just happy that I have withdrawn around $2500 over the period of the 6 months with no deposits made at all.
PokerStrategy: If you had the opportunity of playing a final table with a selection of people of your choice (doesn't have to necessarily be poker players, anyone past or present), who would be seated there with you?
excelgeo: The worst players in the world. 🙂
PokerStrategy: What do you like most about PokerStrategy?
excelgeo: Great community, Brilliant offers, excellent support. What more can i say, I am in love with that site. can i work there please????? I would do it in a heartbeat!
PokerStrategy: Well for anyone seriously interested, there is a Jobs Available page which is updated regularly. Is there anyone in particular from the community you'd like to give a shout out to?
excelgeo: I don't really know people through PokerStrategy.com apart from eaglestar88. But a few names that stick out is alejandrosh, he is very active, friendly and helpful. thebrood is also a very active contributor.
PokerStrategy: Do you have any hobbies outside of poker?
excelgeo: I go to Greece pretty often. i do a lot of clubbing if I can afford it. Finally, I'm doing stand-up comedy, been gigging to a few pubs and bars, it has been going pretty great and I am entering a few contests in the coming months.
PokerStrategy: Ah nice, good luck with that. If money was no object, what would you buy?
excelgeo: An island? haha. I would buy a round-the-world thing; hotels, tickets food and drinks paid for for anywhere I like for a few months. And houses. I would buy houses.
PokerStrategy: What really bugs you in life, what do you get annoyed at most?
excelgeo: Political correctness really gets on my nerves. I am also annoyed when people refrain from expressing their true opinion when asked so that they don't upset others.
People being pretentious and stuck up. I finally hate it when it is rains every time i have a BBQ planned. Damn English weather.
PokerStrategy: Well thank you for doing this interview excelgeo, you've given us all a great insight into the person behind the nickname and we're very grateful for you taking the time out to talk to us today. We wish you continued success with your poker and look forward to seeing you in the forum and on the green felt soon.
excelgeo: Thanks, I am always interested in the forums and still play lots of poker and I do not see that changing soon. Thank you for the opportunity.
Would you like to be interviewed yourself one week or maybe you'd like to
nominate a fellow member who you would like to know more about? Drop me
a reply in the feedback thread and maybe your wish will come true.
Reading a "tell" is not always easy to do, however check out a few of the Invent a Tell from the Fun & Off-Topic thread, might not help your game, but will raise a smile.
As always, this is your Community page and whilst I try to browse most
forum threads looking for points of interest, it's of course not
possible to cover everything. So go on, drop me some suggestions and/or
your thoughts on what you would like to appear in this Round-up news
item in the following feedback thread.
