Neuropsychology of Poker - Motivation and Learning

Somnius is back with part four of his neuropsychology poker series: 'Motivation and Learning.' This article and video teaches Gold members how to continuously improve your poker game by keeping you on the right track to motivation and learning.

Motivation CarrotIn the third part of somnius' neuropsychology series, we learned how healthy dopamine levels contribute to a disciplined behaviour and help you play tilt-free.

This week we take a look at the learning process as Somnius breaks down the right and wrong ways of learning. We also learn how motivation filters into this learning process and how it applies to poker players.

Motivation and Learning in Poker

The difference between an experienced poker player and a fish is that an experienced player does work off the tables by forming new expectations during the learning and adaptation phase. A fish forms expectations based on the play alone, thus creating the potential to deduct unreliable conclusions.

What is your key motivation to play poker? Money? Challenge? Competition? Find out how to channel your motives and become more successful at the tables.

Article or video - you decide

There are two ways through which you can study the "Neuropsychology of Poker" series: You can either watch the video or read the article that Somnius provided below. Both are available for members with GoldGold status and above. The recommended course of action is certainly studying both.
