PokerStrategy Community Round-up
Welcome to the news round-up for the English Community (#4). Each week, EagleStar88 will keep you in touch with some of the most important threads within the forum together with some of the fun posts, so that you never need to miss them.
Our Community Round-up is your weekly source for all that happens inside the PokerStrategy forums. If you missed something last week and you still want to be in touch with our community, here are some of the most important posts. This is just one of many community-related projects being set up.
This week's Blog of the Week has been chosen for three main reasons:
-
This is a player that I and many other members greatly admire and a much loved community member,
-
The blog is a great read, you can learn lots from it and it has songs all the way through to listen to whilst reading,
-
hlynkinn has currently hit a downturn like lots of us (myself included) at the moment but with our moral support I'm sure he can pull through it.
Read the blog in this link.
The following hand was posted in the Sample Hands Short Stack Strategy (Bronze) thread by and sought opinions on how best to play a nut flush in a free-play situation.
These threads are always a mine of information for players of all levels to seek the thoughts of other players and the considered opinion of a coach, so why not read through a few today.
To find out the suggested best way forward on this particular hand, read here (Bronze status or higher required).

"This is really exhausting" - German community member boku.
As you cannot fail to have noticed, Boku is currently grinding out a $100 to $10,000 SnG challenge within just 15 days, averaging over 500 SnG's per day & multitabling up to 50 at a time! read it here.
Inspired by this, I challenged myself to a jam doughnut by breaking even over 4x $0.25 45-player SnG's. I got ITM once, but lost 33cents overall & still had to pay out for the doughnut, sigh, but yumm.
Seriously though, Boku's quest is amazing to watch if you have a spare few minutes. Wishing him well.
New category introduced this week, because...... well because I can I guess. No seriously, a lot of the mentions in this round-up naturally tend to focus on more established members because they post a lot in the forums etc. However this is the "community" round-up and I want to get the whole community involved, so the inaugural holder is... community member dnalloh.
Welcome to PokerStrategy dnalloh, good to see you and thank you for your very detailed introduction which can be read in this link.
Our Community amassed winnings of $ 12,086.54 this week.
Congratulations to all of our winners, which included:
- brutti won a tournament, beating 6,497 other players & netted $2,030.63, wow, very well played;
- saywhat is achieving an excellent ITM ratio in tournaments, keep it going;
- moonwolf52000 only joined us on 22nd February, but has already reached the final table of a tournament netting $76.48. Congrats from all of us, first of many we hope;
- damaincontender returned after a break, found $5 in his Pokerstars account & used it to achieve a $5,703.33 payout by coming 2nd in a 3,123 player tournament. Find out more about it here in this thread.
Sorry, we can't name everyone each week, but we'll try to pick up a few each time. Keep posting those wins in this thread, we've got to reach our $1,000,000 target and are currently up at $326,859.64.
- Sunday, the 8th of March 2009 - Battle of the Donkeys (Season 3, Round 4)
Please don't forget that this will be the Private Tournament on Pokerstars, not the $15k Guaranteed tournament.
Yep he's done it again, the nice Mr thebrood has just started another (classic status pending) thread in the Fun & Off-Topic forum page.
Click Complete the Phrase to read & add to the already impressive following of this thread.
It started with "When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is scratch...." and has already covered a lot of ground, but where will it go next I wonder?
Just to emphasise, this is your Community Round-up page and whilst I try to browse most forum threads looking for points of interest, it's of course not possible to cover everything. So if you see something that you think fellow community members would be interested in, drop me a link to it or add your suggestions/thoughts in this feedback thread.
You think it or see it, I write it, together we share it!
