The problem when you work with poker players

In this week's Community Weekly we say a fond farewell to Matt Perry and go a whole week without Pleno1 winning $100k.

//cdn-origin.pokerstrategy.com/2013/09/03/1000208_10151647042014123_516265999_n.jpgNormally when I write these Community Weekly pieces, I do it before I check my email on a Monday morning, so that I don't get distracted on a tight deadline.

However the last two weeks when I did that, after I finished I discovered that our very own Pleno1 was taking down six-figure scores in the Sunday Majors. Meaning I had to rush around changing everything to report on it.

So this week, with no hint of sarcasm, I genuinely had to check the PokerStars lobby to see if he was at the Sunday Million final for a third time. Sadly, that seems to have jinxed him and he wasn't.

It's great when your friends and colleagues become successful, but it's an absolute pain on a Monday morning when you have got everything planned and then see one of them is crushing a Sunday Major meaning you have to move everything around. Fortunately, my colleagues will never have that problem with me.

Speaking of colleagues, today we say a heartfelt goodbye and thank you to mjperry (Pictured here with the monkey). Matt has been the Bert to my Ernie at PokerStrategy.com in the Editorial Team for the last three years and he will be sorely missed.

Don't worry, we didn't sack him, he is about to embark on a very exciting new opportunity, but I hope we will still see him trolling the comments box as he always did so well.

We have, however, cloned him and are pleased to welcome joshlogan to step into his boots and do the very important tasks of correcting my typos and making me feel very old.

Thread of the week

Get a coffee (or three) and sit down to enjoy our very own schnitzelfisch's Complete Guide to Motivation in Life and Poker.

11,000 words of free material complete from our productivity coach, who since his humble beginnings at PokerStrategy.com has worked with over 70 clients and is getting some real recognition in and out of poker.

I've become friendly with schnitzelfisch in recent years and I can tell you it is not fluff what he is preaching, it really does work and I've met many people who have used his methods to thrive. This free material is better than some people's paid material.

LOL of the week

Phil Hellmuth gaffes have something of a timeless quality. I used this in my top 5 non-poker talents from poker pros piece and there is no harm in using it again.

Running hot

In case you have been living under a rock, last week we had:

//cdn-origin.pokerstrategy.com/2012/07/20/levelupnewspic.pngThree PokerStrategists made the largest ever Sunday Million final (and one won it).

• We have a fun community promo - show us how you grind

Level Up is back - your way to climb the status levels and earn $100.

Coming up

As I gaze into my crystal ball I see a lot of good stuff coming your way, including:

//cdn-origin.pokerstrategy.com/2011/11/07/moshman.jpg• We have three great interviews with PokerStrategists who have found big success this year and we may have even more.
