PokerStrategy League: Second Freeroll and Point-System Voting

The second freeroll of the PokerStrategy league kicks off this Wednesday. As we have had some feedback concerning our choice of point systems, we have decided to put the topic up for discussion and voting.

Today, the second tournament of the PokerStrategy League on Titan Poker is kicking off. Just as in the first tournament, it has no buy-in and no prizepool. So even if you only have a playmoney account at Titan Poker, you are eligible to take part. The only requirement: You need to enter your accout into your PokerStrategy profile. The account does not have to be tracked for this. The number of participants is capped at 750 players.

The password for the freeroll can be found in the following thread:

The Point System Voting

In our original point-distribution system, we gave points to the top finishers of the tournament according to the payout structure outlined in Option 1. After feedback from several of our players who suggested a flatter league structure, we have decided to put a second option up for discussion. The second system is based on the PokerStars system for calculating their tournament board leaders and can be found under Option 2:

International Tournament: Point Structure Vote - Important

Option 1: (the original system)

Players playing 10-18 19-27 28-54 55-99 100-153 154-240 >240
1st 46,00% 41,00% 40,00% 34,00% 30,00% 27,00% 23,00%
2nd 27,00% 24,00% 23,00% 18,00% 20,00% 17,00% 17,00%
3rd 17,00% 14,00% 13,00% 10,00% 12,00% 11,00% 10,00%
4rth 10,00% 10,00% 9,00% 9,00% 8,00% 7,00% 8,00%
5th   7,00% 6,00% 7,00% 6,00% 5,00% 6,00%
6th   4,00% 4,00% 5,00% 5,00% 4,00% 4,00%
7th     3,00% 4,00% 3,50% 3,50% 3,00%
8th     2,00% 3,00% 2,00% 3,00% 2,50%
9th       2,00% 1,50% 2,50% 2,00%
10th-18th       1,00% 1.00% 1,50% 1,50%
19th-27th         0.50% 1,00% 1,00%
27th-36th             0,50%

Option 2: (adapted system)

This scoring system uses the formula: 10 * (sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)) where n = number of participants and k = rank of the user

For the 240 users that we had in our last tournament this would result in the following point distribution.

Current Point Standings
Rank Points
1 155
2 110
3 89
4 77
5 69
6 63
7 59
... ...
30 28
31 28
32 27
33 27
... ...
65 19
66 19
67 19
... ...
120 14
121 14
122 14
... ...
238 10
239 10
240 10

As you can see, the distribution is somewhat flatter and runs across all finishes (not just the top ones) so that at the end of 10 weeks it gives a better insight about who did a consistently good job. Vote here:
