Lockdown restrictions due to the pandemic resulted in the Irish Open, Europe's longest-running poker tournament, heading to the virtual felt at partypoker in both 2020 and 2021. Brazilian star Pablo Silva won the inaugural Irish Open online event, while Pavel Veksler is currently the reigning champion after triumphing in 2021.
Only a few, if any, live poker tournaments grab the attention of the poker community like the Irish Open. Anyone who has ever made his way to the Irish capital Dublin will attest to the entire festival being bags of fun, coupled with juicy prize pools that are far from anything to be sniffed at.
In 2022, the Irish Open finally makes its way back to the live felt, with the recently refurbished Citywest Hotel Dublin once again hosting the festival from April 13 through April 18. There's a €1,150 ask to take part in the Main Event, still as usual players are able to qualify for a fraction of that in exclusive online satellites at partypoker. And while there is no guarantee yet on the Main Event prize pool given away, the tournament awarded a massive €1,805,870 in its last live run back in 2019.
Still, the Main Event is just a part of a full range of tournaments players in Dublin will be able to take part in. There's a total of 42 events scheduled in the Citywest Hotel, with buy-ins ranging from €100 up to €5,000, making sure there's something in story for players of all levels in one of the most popular live festivals in Europe.
