Pieter de Korver lifts Berlin Cup

It's been four years since Pieter de Korver last won an EPT title, but all that changed last night when he took down the Berlin Cup.
The Dutch pro scooped his first EPT Grand Final title back in 2009 and banked $3,024,167 and while he scooped markedly less during yesterday's finale, the win was no less significant.
Having made his way past more than 900 players, de Korver started the finale fifth in chips and, after watching PokerStrategist Vladimir 'beyne' Geshkenbein exit in eighth place, he was able to dominate the table.
Indeed, as PKR's Russian pro watched from the rail, de Korver was able to strike a three-way deal before defeating Sebastian Gohr for the title.

EPT announces Monaco Cup

Following the success of the Berlin Cup, PokerStars and European Poker Tour have just announced the creation of the Monaco Cup.
Complete with three starting days and a re-entry format, the Monaco Cup will boast a €500,000 guarantee and form part of a 50 tournament schedule at this year's EPT Grand Final.
Kicking off on May 11 and coming to a conclusion on May 15, the organisers are expecting a healthy turnout in light of the 911 runners who contested this year's Berlin Cup.
PokerStars are currently running a host of online satellites with €3,000 packages that include tournament entry, accommodation and spending money on offer.
Million dollar scammer pleads not guilty

| Johnson's trial continues |
Jeremy Johnson, a businessman who was arrested in 2011, has recently pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud.
Following a federal investigation, Johnson was charged with defrauding people out of $275 million by registering them for bogus products and repeatedly charging their credit and debit cards.
Of the money obtained through his illegal activity, it's believed that $59 million was used to fund a lavish lifestyle that included high stakes poker sessions at various online sites.
When the story first broke in 2011, it was revealed that Johnson played under the alias "ginette22" and lost somewhere in the region of $1.5 million.
On top of this, Johnson revealed that he let various professionals play on his account for a cut of their winnings; however, they never made any money for him.
In the last few days Johnson has continued to plead his innocence and will be required to attend a status hearing in June following the review of 55 terabytes worth of information.

Like a high stakes yoyo, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom switched from Saturday's biggest winner to Sunday's biggest loser.
After banking $502,622 on Saturday, Blom found himself handing back all that and more when he dropped $503,518 during yesterday's session.
Also suffering downswings in the last 24 hours was Patrik "FinddaGrind" Antonius (-$272,940) and Alexander "PostflopAction" Kostritsyn (-$157,445).
Blom's recent loss was largely thanks to "cottonseed1" who banked a table-topping $607,476, yesterday.
That haul was enough to put him ahead of Niki Jedlicka ($209,735) and "kagome kagome" ($149,826) and take his 2013 profit to $1,642,383.
