SCOOP breaks records

After 44 events at three different buy-in levels (132 tournaments in total), this year's SCOOP festival has awarded record-breaking $75,585,305 in prize money.
PokerStars' online series has broken all previous records and later today three of the largest prizes will be handed out to the series' Main Event winners.
Kicking off yesterday and pausing after 40 levels, the $109, $1,050 and $10,300 tournaments attracted impressive numbers, with the most expensive drawing 580.
Smashing Event #43-H's $3,000,000 guarantee by $2,800,000, a total of 73 players, including Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo (93,238), Jake Cody (24,627) and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom (412,539), are currently still in contention for the $1,096,200 top prize.
Poised on the bubble, it looks as though Blom will be one of the biggest threats going into the final session after he finished Day 1 second in chips just behind "7tHEcROw7" who bagged 426,418.

With the WSOP kicking off on Wednesday, the organisation's final circuit event came to a close on Friday and, when the confetti had settled, Jonathan Hilton was left smiling.
Held inside Harrah's newest property in New Orleans, the $10,000 tournament attracted 127 players, including 20 WSOPC season champions.
Among those vying for the first US WSOP bracelet to be awarded outside of Las Vegas was Jason Mercier, Brock Parker and former WSOP Main Event final-tablist, Jeremy Ausmus.
As the action moved towards a finale it was Jeremy Ausmus who found himself heading to the rail in eighth place.
Following Ausmus's exit a slew of eliminations allowed Hilton to gain the advantage before besting Max Steinberg heads-up to scoop the $355,599 top prize.
A flurry of activity on the

) and a quick call from Hilton with

As the

fell on the turn and river, the final pot handed Hilton his first WSOP bracelet.

Rafa Nadal's growing love of poker and competitive spirit lead him to challenge 200 players to an impromptu poker tournament, yesterday.
Held inside the Paris Tennis Club, just down the road from Roland Garros, the tournament was hosted on PokerStars' mobile platform.
Playing on his iPad, Nadal battled his way through half the field before hitting the rail when his 
was out-flopped by his opponent’s

The event was eventually won by "Kinkin.a.60" who took home a special chip set signed by Nadal.

The allure of Sunday's SCOOP Main Event produced a lull in the virtual world's cash game action.
With the likes of "Isildur1" vying for a SCOOP title, it was "FaKeOrReaL" who topped the latest high stakes leaderboard with a profit of $114,384.
The relatively modest haul was enough to put the online grinder comfortably ahead of yesterday's other winners: Dan Junglemandan Cates ($46,729) and "verve.oasis" ($39,814).
