EPT Copenhagen Begins Today
The European Poker Tour hits Denmark for the eighth year running today as the DKK35,000 (US$6,300) Main Event begins. Last year, Michael Tureniec beat a 449-strong field to win the DKK3.7 million first prize.

The EPT Copenhagen Main Event begins today for the eighth time, making it one of the few stops to have remained on the EPT schedule since the inception of the tour. Always a popular festival, the main event carries a buy-in of DKK35,000 (approximately US$6,200 or €4,700).
This time last year...
Last year, Michael Tureniec defeated a field of 449 players to win DKK3.7 million (US$679,244) and his first EPT title. He battled fellow Swede Per Linde for almost four hours before his 4-bet shove with 
was called by Linde's 
. The board ran out jack-high to give Tureniec the title.
A history of EPT Copenhagen
The EPT Copenhagen has seen many star-studded final tables and big name winners, with the very first in 2005 seeing Team PokerStars Pro Noah Boeken beat Hendon Mobster Ram Vaswani heads-up for the inaugural EPT Copenhagen title.
Since then, we have seen the likes of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Roberto Romanello and Juha Helppi make the final table in Denmark. In 2009, PokerStrategy.com video producer Jens "
JensKyllonen" Kyllonen won the event outright, taking home the equivalent to $1,120,815 after beating the largest EPT Copenhagen field in the event's history.
