Layne Flack joins Poker Icons
Six time WSOP bracelet winner Layne "Back to Back" Flack is the latest addition to poker agency Poker Icon's stable of top poker stars.
Top American poker player Layne "Back to Back" Flack has decided to seek greener pastures in Europe after signing on with Poker Icons just recently. He joins the likes of Jamie Gold, Kathy Liebert and Annette Obrestad in the ever growing stable of poker stars that are managed by the poker agency.
Citing the rapid growth of poker in Europe as the main reason for joining Scandinavia based Poker Icons, Flack said, "I believe that poker has a great future in Europe and I would love to be a part of it." His love for Europe and the great experiences he has had at European poker tournaments also made the decision an easy one.
When asked about his latest signing, Poker Icons CEO Lars Kollind said that he think Flack has a great deal of potential to make it big in Europe. He believed it was the right move for Flack as the legal restrictions in place in America meant that there will be more growth in Europe. "There is good action in Europe, and good poker players look for the best action", added Kollind.
$4 Million in Tournament Winnings
The 40 year old Flack who earned his nickname through back to back wins in the WSOP in both 2002 and 2003 earned his last bracelet in 2008 in the $1,500 PL Omaha Rebuy event. This year, he made two finals table appearances but ended up just short. He finished eight in the $2,500 2-7 Lowball and seventh in the $2,500 Mixed Event.
In his illustrious poker career, Flack has amassed a total of more than $4 million and tournament winnings. He has so far made 70 cashes and taken down 14 titles in major events after gaining prominence with his first WSOP title in 1999. He is 56 on the All Time money list according to the Hendon Mob.
Flack who is good friends with 1996 WSOP Main event Champ Huck Seed first got into the game early 90s while serving as a card dealer. Like many dealers before him, he eventually quit the job to focus on his poker game. He was famously mentored by Johnny Chan who offered to stake him in a tournament after watching him play.
