Man Jailed For Threatening Online Poker Site
Michael Gallagher, a poker player from the UK, has received a three-month jail sentence for threatening an online poker site's staff.
Gallagher lost around £19,000 between June 2010 and May 2011, and started sending threatening emails to the unnamed site's Isle of Man head office. He threatened to 'massacre' them with a sawn-off shotgun, unless they paid him £30,000.
In one such email he wrote:
“I hope you take me seriously because I swear to God I’m going to do it. I will have my vengeance. I have planned this for six months. It’s what makes me sleep a night.”
“Drifting off to sleep, thinking about what I am going to do, knowing full well that the butchering I do will get you exposed for what you are… I will gladly take a life sentence for that. Believe me, it will be my finest hour… $50,000 in my account, or believe me, you will all be dead.”
He had a charge of Blackmail dropped, but admitted to the lesser charge of ‘sending an electronic communication conveying a threat'.
Sergio Marti Aguilar Wins GSOP Greece
Over in Greece, 338 players have been reduced to 1 in the latest leg of the Grand Series of Poker. Sergio Marti Aguilar came into the final table second in chips and went into a heads-up battle with overall chip leader Stefan Genchev with even stacks.
What could have been an epic back and forth actually was over in minutes, as both men were all in right away, with the Ace King of Aguilar holding vs the dominated King Queen of Genchev.
Sergio took down €74,447 and the title for his victory.
The next leg of the GSOP will take place in Prague in December.

Two Warm-Ups, Two Millions, Today on PokerStars
Just a quick reminder that today PokerStars are trying something a little bit different. They will be hosting two Sunday Warm-Ups (Each $500k guaranteed) and two Sunday Millions (Each $1 million guaranteed) all in one day.
The total prize pool will be at least $3 million and at the following times:

High Stakes Corner
Full Tilt Poker was once the home of online cash games, with the biggest names playing and the largest stakes, with thousands of railbirds watching every pot.
But Full Tilt has not been online since June 29, leaving PokerStars to host the nosebleed action. Yesterday the Poker King Blog documented the biggest winner and losers since Full Tilt was shut down.
It may be a new home, but some familiar names at the top of the rankings, with Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies the biggest winner so far and Phil 'MrSweets28' Galfond both among the big winners.
