Poker as a vehicle for comedy really seems to be making sense in 2017, not only did we see Kevin Hart endorse PokerStars, we also saw poker player Ken Cheng win a comedy award and Douglas Kim create a sitcom based around his life as a player.
Now a project that makes perfect sense, watching stand-up comedians playing a home game. It features this writer's all time favourite comedian Bill Burr and if you know his work it is needless to say, this is NSFW:
Jacobson joins 888poker
It seems odd that arguably the best player of the post-boom era to win the Main Event didn't have a major sponsor, but that has been rectified as 2014 World Series of Poker champion Martin Jacobson is officially on Team 888poker.
The Swedish tournament Pro won $10 million when he took down the big one and joins the likes of Kara Scott, Parker Talbot, Chris Moorman, Sofia Lovgren and Dominik Nitsche at the already formidable team of ambassadors.
"888poker and I have a mutual interest to make poker great again in ‘taking back the game,' says Jacobson. "888poker's goal is to host prestigious events with huge guarantees affordable to anyone by providing a wide range of buy-ins along with satellites to all tournaments."
Twitch stream fail
This week tournament grinder Bryan Paris took down the Big $109 live on Twitch for almost $12,000, which is amazing considering the basic Twitch error he made.
He bravely chose to stream without a delay but covered his cards up so nobody playing against him could have an unfair advantage. Unfortunately, he forgot to cover up the 'hand strength' signifier at the bottom of his table.
But he still managed the win, so well done to him:
