pleno1 heads up new partypoker VIP scheme
Patrick Leonard to be the face of partypoker’s new VIP program that promises 40% weekly cash back as well as a host of extra bonuses.
Last week we bought you the news of partypoker’s brand new loyalty program and now, in an update, they have recruited brand ambassador and ex-PokerStrategy.com staffer Patrick'Pleno1' Leonard to be the face of a new tier for high volume players.
The Diamond club, a cashback based program, comes as part of the new business strategy that was laid out by new Chairman Mike Sexton during his announcement news last week. In it, he declared plans to “reward players who start games and keep the action going” as part of a ten-step plan to drive the room forward.
Heading up the new scheme will be Patrick Leonard who will be in charge of the Diamond Club moving forward, maintaining a dialogue with players in order to on make improvements to the software and the products the site will offer.
Very happy to have such an influential position in this scheme. Credit to @partypoker who listened to everything. Interesting next 12 months https://t.co/IKH8uQLiIA

Rewarding loyalty and eliminating predators
The Diamond Club promises to reward its members with 40% rakeback plus ‘other’ VIP bonuses. From the players’ point of view, they must be able to commit to earning 100,000 points a year in any of party’s formats. The logic behind the move is to eliminate higher skilled players from joining a game purely to feast on weaker players.
The man himself said;
“I joined partypoker initially because management promised me that they would have the player’s best interests in mind and invest in the poker community and the Diamond Club will be an important part of this strategy. The Diamond Club will reward regulars who start games and continue games and not reward these predatory regs who jump into a game for a small amount of time when they believe their win rate is sky high and sit out when the weaker player has gone broke.
I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t have a background in poker try and come up with ‘revolutionary’ ways to improve loyalty systems and not surprisingly, most of them have failed. Quite simply, those who want to support partypoker and make this their home for playing poker will be rewarded generously. Those who want to use partypoker to only prey on weaker players will not.”
