English Community Round-up

A blog from Sweden, an Australian takes over as the current "Freeroll King" and a major tournament in Spain. The global diversity of our community at its best is demonstrated once again this week.

Our
Community round-up is your weekly source for all that happens inside
the PokerStrategy forums. If you missed something last week and you
still want to be in touch with our community, here are some of the most
important posts.

Poker Blog of the Week

Wanted to highlight another well established blog from a well known and popular community member this week and an obvious choice is fongie's blog.
Like all of the PokerStrategy Coaches, fongie is always more than willing to help out fellow members with any questions and queries and equally keen to continuing developing his own game.

Sample Hand of the Week

The importance of knowing/identifying your opponents style of play is demonstrated by community member trooz's following Fixed Limit hand:

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.25/$0.5 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with J, A.
CO posts deadblind, 2 folds, Hero raises, 5 folds, BB 3-Bets, Hero calls.

Flop: (7.4 SB) T, 5, A (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

Turn: (4.7 BB) 6 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

River: (8.7 BB) 5 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 12.7 BB.

trooz: "Not sure on this hand, I think I should have just checked behind on the river? Maybe b/f?"

Notes:
C/R turn, C/F river
C/R river pure bluff
3bet JTos Mp2

Judge ciRith: "Yes these notes are usefull. It shows that he is able to make unreasonable plays.
> C/R river pure bluff - that's what he did here so you have an easier call than without this note.
> 3bet JTos Mp2 - means that he is pretty loose preflop so you can expect him to have a weaker hand here.
So I like the hand as played. His line is either a monster or a bluff and for 12:1 it should be often enough a bluff."

Hot Thread of the week

Hot thread this week is of course the Live EPT Barcelona Ticker thread with the community supporting our fellow PokerStrategists competing for this major tournament.
Over 4,500 views already, a big thanks to all of the guys/girls over in Spain and to all the News team too for keeping us up to date. Really appreciated folks.

And finally...

It's all about numbers. In the week that PokerStrategy added another superb strategy article on the Probabilities in Texas Hold'em, community member steiistui posted a really interesting thread on numbers. Check it out 🙂

As always, this is your Community page and whilst I try to browse most
forum threads looking for points of interest, it's of course not
possible to cover everything. So go on, drop me some suggestions and/or
your thoughts on what you would like to appear in this Round-up news
item in the following feedback thread.
