Goal no.2: Play 10.000 hands of zoom.

... unfortunately I will have to fail this one, cause I just can't keep playing and burning money like this, got to stop now. :(

I really REALLY do WANT to continue playing, and I think I'm not tilting, even after all these beats [but I need and I DO take ~5min breaks after these hands, but afterwards I think I really am back to "neutral" state regarding my emotions]. Just all in all, I still think that I am NOT a good player in the first place [meaning I do make a lot of mistakes]. But even then I think I still can be a small winning player in the end. HOWEVER, when you add "running BAD" on top of this, I think it is just a suicide to continue, though ... Making mistakes + getting sucked out on/coolered in the spots where I don't make mistakes = 100% decline in ALL lines ... So following this reasoning, I must stop for today :( Even though it is STILL so SO early ... :( crap. Was planning to put in HUGE volume of zoom today, and ...
"Haha, wicked, not so fast",- said "Poker Gods" to him, - "there's a Unicorn waiting, who wants to play with you".

WEEK 5 Review

Task Table

Pretty much "nailed" the TaskTable last week, just the first row considering volume is missing. Although I was really planning on "nailing" that one as well, but had to forfeit this plan on Friday, due to bad play + incredibly bad luck, unfortunately. Decided to stick just with satellites for the weekend.

However, even scoring the record breaking 72 points, and having 100% green "life" section for the first time, I still do not feel happy at all, because the first row feels like almost the most important of all, and unfortunately my results there are nowhere in "good" category at all ... Still HUGELY need to improve on that one. Maybe then I can feel at least a bit happy about myself. It just shows HOW ACTUALLY is IMPORTANT these results on VOLUME as well as $$ ... You can do everything "perfect", regarding your daily life/work routine, but if you still are not able to produce positive results on volume and $$, you just don't feel happy, and that's it. Plain and simple. However, I must admit that successfully completing tasks from "life" section, makes your overall both physical and mental "well-being" be in a really nice state/shape, as well as overcome these "bad beats" and all other negative stuff much easier. So I guess here's one "yey!" for that. But all in all - NEED the RESULTS. FROM THE TABLES. Come on ......

Playing

Since now I'm reading this TT's, JB's and Manu's GREAT, imo, book, I came to realize that my small samples are really first of all - SMALL, and second - they don't matter much, so I decided that from now on I'm gonna post just monthly graph. Or weekly, IF I can manage to squeeze in 10K+ hands. But since that never happened before, and doesn't look to happen in the near future as well - monthly graphs it is. So lets start with February's graph.

So as mentioned the volume is pretty bad, considering this is a whole month's graph, but even so, there are still few quite strong conclusions visible.

1. Looks like I finally managed to get that red line somewhat "in control". Thin-value bet less and don't scare opponent's weak ranges, as well as stop spewing and just fold flop when I have marginal holdings and are able to catch myself BEFORE going to later streets and starting to bluff. So this is the first, and unfortunately the only, good thing so far, regarding my play at the tables.

2. But the blue line still speaks for itself. I keep playing very VERY BAD. Almost all of my bluffs WHEN I START to do them are called down, because I keep doing them either in the wrong spots or versus wrong opponents. Another very bad thing is, that I am still the one from that "non-believers" category, and tend to call down others with marginal holdings too light, meaning that at showdowns I'm almost never good, and the blue line just goes down and down. Also, not running particularly hot either - had quite enough of suckouts as well as set-ups.

3. So the most important - green - line is there, where it's supposed to be. A perfect illustration on how the "bad play + bad luck" combination looks like. Not much else to add here.

Conclusions & Expectations

GOALS FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK

Goal no.1: Maintain a fairly good [55-60] score on my TaskTable.

Goal no.2: Still aiming to surprise myself and play 10.000 hands of zoom.

Goal no.3: Get up at 06.20 [AM] all mornings till Saturday.

Goal no.4: Work more on my game and get that blue line up.

This sounds EXACTLY like me :f_love:

It's easier said than done to change this way of thinking though. You know exactly what you should be doing different, but actually doing it is a whole other story.

Looks like you've got your life tasks going very well. I think that's already a pretty important step which will help with getting the poker goals down soon as well. Just keep this up and you'll get there :)

Also if you are unable to reach your volume goals, perhaps you should try to adjust them and set lower goals? Unless of course you think your current goals are very achievable for you. In that case, maybe try to push yourself just a little bit more :)

And THIS sounds EXACTLY like ME ... .... ;) yeah, it really IS a problem ... :( I will have to work VERY HARD on that ...

Well, I DO also think that this is important, that's exactly why am I doing this in the first place, just the thing is, that it doesn't bring that much of the "happiness" as better results at poker table would do ... ;) And this is very hard psychologically ... But yeah, as I said before, having better routine really helps to better cope with that, so I just hope I can get my poker goals down some time soon as well ... Thanks, though, for nice words ;)

I think it's the latter, so ... ;) Gonna try and push MYSELF a bit harder on this aspect ... ;)

And so THE FUN continues .... I KNOW that these NICE HANDS are SUPPOSED to happen once in a while, but seriously - what is that "WHILE" ?? ?( Is it really supposed to happen THAT often ? I mean, really .... WHAT THE FCK ?

BTN: $5.90 (59 bb)
SB: $10.92 (109.2 bb)
BB: $24.07 (240.7 bb)
Hero (UTG): $10.75 (107.5 bb)
MP: $10.96 (109.6 bb)
CO: $6.52 (65.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K♠ A♠
Hero raises to $0.30, MP calls $0.30, 2 folds, SB calls $0.25, BB calls $0.20

Flop: ($1.20) 9♠ 4♠ 8♠ (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, MP bets $0.75, 2 folds, Hero raises to $2.55, MP raises to $10.66 and is all-in, Hero calls $7.90 and is all-in

Turn: ($22.10) Q♥ (2 players, 2 are all-in)
River: ($22.10) 4♥ (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results: $22.10 pot ($0.99 rake)
Hero showed K♠ A♠ and lost (-$10.75 net)
MP showed Q♠ Q♦ and won $21.11 ($10.36 net)

You FLOP the NUTS, put your money in when 97% favorite AGAIN, and still "miracles" just keep happening and happening .... just not for me but for OTHERS.

This is how I feel -----> :f_o: :f_o: :f_o: :f_o: :f_o: :f_o: :f_o: < ----- .

Sick and tired of this nonsense. :/

But as "pro's" suggest - there's nothing you can do, just be a "professional" about it and turn off your emotions, "it is just one long session", so just keep grinding. OK. Gonna keep grinding. I just hope that these "pro's" will turn out to be right in the end.

And now this just gets completely ridiculous.

Both MP and BTN are fishes.

BTN: $8.85 (88.5 bb)
SB: $6.73 (67.3 bb)
Hero (BB): $10.50 (105 bb)
UTG: $10 (100 bb)
MP: $12.21 (122.1 bb)
CO: $24.19 (241.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5♥ 5♣
UTG folds, MP calls $0.10, CO folds, BTN raises to $0.40, SB folds, Hero calls $0.30, MP calls $0.30

Flop: ($1.25) 5♦ 6♠ 8♣ (3 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $0.60, BTN raises to $2, Hero calls $2, MP calls $1.40

Turn: ($7.25) 8♠ (3 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $3.50, BTN raises to $6.45 and is all-in, Hero calls $6.45, MP calls $2.95

River: ($26.60) 6♦ (3 players, 1 is all-in)
Hero bets $1.65 and is all-in, MP calls $1.65

Results: $29.90 pot ($1.35 rake)
BTN showed A♠ 8♥ and won $12.70 ($3.85 net)
Hero showed 5♥ 5♣ and lost (-$10.50 net)
MP showed J♥ 8♦ and won $15.85 ($5.35 net)

Posted the hand in evaluation, and seems that I did everything right in this hand. But still, being 95% favorite vs BOTH fishes on the flop is just NOT ENOUGH FOR ME to win. Again.

But I will just keep grinding. Gonna try to implement in my mind TwiceT's approach to poker as of "It is all one long session".

I will just keep grinding.

This is all you can really do. Just grind it out and make sure you don't make any stupid mistakes just because of runbad :)

Hi WicKeD,

I somehow missed your blog in the past.

I also play SH cash, so I look forward in following your development.

Last two hands you posted.

Hand 1.
I'm really on the loose side but flatting here preflop seems bad; especially, at NL10. Opening itself could be correct, I personally open it all the time too, but I already said, many would say that my opening ranges are wrong. What I suggest you to do is this: if you feel comfortable opening that wide from the utg, or going even wider and opening 64s etc, you should look quickly the situation on the table first. For instance, if two solid regs are sitting in blinds, or one in blinds and on on the BU, it probably isn't the best idea to go that wide bcs they will often 3bet you from theses positions, and flatting seems too loose after they 3bet your UTG open. Now, postflop, if you are already in this situation i think this is not the best flop to just shove over your pair plus fdraw, I think flatting the flop and reevaluating the situation ott is better approach in this spot.

Hand 2.
It's a standard cooler.. river is more of a check call than betting.. but you would end up putting these 1.65 either way so..

All in all,
you got a new follower,
keep us updated, work hard, and crush it :)

Cheers!

Hey there buddy,

It's a shame your downswing seems to continue. The hands you posted are very annoying indeed, but not much you can do. Eventually luck will have to turn around, right?

I'm exactly the opposite of you. I give people way too much credit I think and probably get bluffed way too much. I would kill for a redline like yours. Mine just goes straight down. But then again...my blue line is pretty :).

I will keep following your blog and expect to see a turnaround soon _cool:

Ok, time for a little update :)

Haven't been around lately, because had to deal with some problems regarding my PC and car as well. Didn't have time to play at all. So had to put all of my "TaskTables" and stuff on hold. And since today is the start of Micro Millions 7, meaning that my sleep and the whole "daily routine" schedules gonna be a complete mess for the next 10 days, I'm planning on bringing back the whole "Task Table" thing afterwards. :) Now leaving my whole focus to these upcoming 28 events that I'm planning to take part in. :)

So here's my schedule for today:

Gonna keep updating here on almost anything that will happen to me during these tournaments :) So prepare for a LOT OF whining, I guess

But all jokes aside, wish me luck, and I hope that this time I can do better than 13th place, and visit at least one Final Table :P and boost my BR for NL50 zoom Let's go, Micro Millions ! :f_love:

Day 1 of MicroMillions7

Been pretty much card dead the whole evening, encountered some suckouts as well like always, such as aip with QQ vs 88, RIVERS set, or aip with JJ vs maniac's 57o, board goes 5T7xx, but given the "card dead" fact, I guess the first day went pretty well overall, can't complain much. Made one ITM, so ended in a small profit total.

1. 7bbd aip with 55, ran into KK.
2. 11bbd aip with 99 vs 88 and AQ [45% favorite vs 17% and 38%], board goes 6QKQ8.
3. 10bbd aip with A5o 60% favorite vs K9o, board goes 7J8Q9.
4. 11bbd aip with 66, ran into QQ and AA

Looking forward for tomorrow ! Goodnight all
