I've been streaming various games on twitch, but have been having problems with lagging, computer crashes and so on.

So I found the Open Hardware Monitor -- a useful little tool for monitoring your computer's hardware -- specifically Temperature

Here's what it looked like today:

This is an improvement.
What helped was changing the video settings.

I still need a graphics card though...

How is the graphics card hunt going?

Once I had cleaned all the dust out of my CPU cooling fans, my computer's current GPU is handling the load just fine, so I haven't really been looking hard.

I was looking on Craigslist and other local used buy-and-sell sites, but the sellers seem to want too much for too little.

Mind you, they all seem to think that I'm offering too little.

Hi Vorpal, grats for ITM!

To be honest your hand is rather good for postflop, but not for All-in calls.
It is something like 22% of the best hands (3 handed). So you would have better hands every round probably.
Problem that you had very little for High (and your goal is to win scoop): no broadway kickers, no A suited, only one very low suit for 68, your 6 is not a good card if 2 would be counterfeited, your A2 not connected to 68 at all... and as a rule your opp would also have A but with better kicker than your 8.

Having 40 BB you'd better fold your hand vs opp all-in.

Today I'm playing the $3.30 2-7 triple draw MicroMillions-26

I thought that for practice, I would play a satellite, and if I won, I would unregister, then reg after an hour.

Ooops!

This tournament was one wild ride!

I just kept to the philosophy "play only strong hands aggressively" -- and I got more than my fair share of strong hands, that's for sure!

My favourite hand occurred during the heads-up portion. I had a 2:1 chip lead at that point, had a one-card draw to a nine, but drew another nine.
When I play cash, I will stand pat when I pair my top card -- I had never done this in tournaments before so here goes...

Had I not been so far ahead, and so determined to keep pressure on, I might have played this much differently.
Furthermore, BB drew 2 which indicates a more speculative hand, and since I had drawn only one, he had to have a very good hand to continue.
But what if I get called and I lose?
No problem -- I still have a great stack -- but now villain can see that I can do this, and I am more likely to get paid off when I have the nutz.

Even more fun was the fact that I was streaming this for 20 or so viewers at the time.

Fantastic performance tonight, and great stream as well! You certainly kept us all at the edge of our seats.

Being the nit that I am, I couldn't believe some of your loose play towards the beginning of the final table. But you made it work for you, and that's all that matters. Not only did it work, but it worked like a charm. That's also why I didn't say anything about it in the chat, I didn't want to break your flow.

You handled your heads-up opponent brilliantly. Aside from your skillful high-pressure play, I believe there were a couple of spots where you should have changed gears, though. It was pretty clear that your opponent was going for nothing but value in some situations, so you gave a lot of chips away by calling with very marginal holdings and dead draws, when the bet sizes were very high. Overall, however, you really outclassed him with your play, which included some very gutsy bluffs and snows, and deserved to take that #1 spot. You definitely did better than I would have done in that situation.

Now all that's left to do is to ship the NL 5CD tomorrow to take the ultimate crown of draw poker, high and low. Hopefully, I'll also make it on time for once, so maybe we can have some two player action.

Thank you so much for that glowing report. The bold portion is indeed my biggest leak.
It took me several hands to realize that heads-up I needed to widen my range to draw to T-Lo and even J-Lo hands when warranted.

All that having been said, I must take my hat off to the dealer -- You can't play like that without the hands, and I sure got the hands tonight.

It took a while to get to sleep I was so pumped.

When we were heads up and the payouts were 855 and 1300, the fair Mrs Vorpal says "Oh good, you can pay for the tires then!"

The day before she had had a flat, and since the tires were almost worn out we ordered new ones which we'll be getting in about 2 hours.

Now for today, we have the MM-35 $3.30 NL 5-Card Draw

I read that there´s also a terrible heat wave in Canada? Everything okay there?

Not where I live.
The worst it ever gets is 35-40, and it has only reached 31 so far this year.
Since Tuesday it has been barely 25 outside.

We don't have an air conditioner, but we have a few fans, and when it gets real hot, we dampen towels and put them over us.

The heat in southern Ontario is worse because it gets so humid there.
