Education Review 2010: A Skyscraping Year

The past year featured an improved coverage of all poker variants, including the less-explored ones such as Razz and Stud. In addition, we've had many high profile guest video producers as well as new coaches and hand judges joining our ranks. Read on to see all the highlights of 2010 in our annual review.

Quality was emphasized throughout 2010. As such, we had released hundreds of new videos as well as numerous articles and other material aimed at bringing you the highest level of content available out there. Our veteran video producers and authors had all given their best to help you improve your game.

In addition, we brought many guest video producers who gave you an inside look into their play on limits such as PLO1k and NL1k. Besides video content, we had also worked diligently on improving the strategy section, bringing you new content, such as the articles on Middle Stack Strategy and various other topics.

Our hand evaluation forums and coaching sessions saw an improvement as well. Our hand judges were never busier and besides their great services, it is also encouraging to see an increased number of PokerStrategists taking part in hand discussions. Same story can be told for our coaching sessions, as we strongly recommend attending them if you wish to improve your game.

Below is our annual review bringing you all the highlights of our content in the past year as well as an outlook on what you can expect from PokerStrategy.com in 2011.

The best videos

Video content was enhanced throughout the year 2010 in various ways. Besides numerous videos on the more popular game types, we've also recorded videos on games such as Razz and Stud. These videos attracted a lot of attention from PokerStrategists, but the video that caught the most attention in 2010 was brought to you by our mid to high stakes NL video producer nanonokops.

However, nanonoko was not the only high profile player recording videos for PokerStrategy.com community. Amongst others, urnotindanger2 made his appearance as a video producer as well, recording a lengthy video in which he talked about his play on NL1k.

In addition to their Fixed Limit video series, kobeyard and byronjacobs had also written an article on checking behind with initiative on the flop. Other interesting topics covered in articles in 2010 range from playing jacks and tens to altering your play based on different stack sizes in an MTT.

With the increased popularity of Pot-Limit Omaha, huckebein wrote an article on PLO aimed at the beginners. He had also created an article series on a new NLHE strategy together with greyboy. These two provided you with an in-depth series in which they explained how to play with a middle stack - as opposed to the already explored short stack and big stack strategies.

Hand evaluations

Our hand evaluation service had improved even further in 2010. An average answering time of our hand judges was less than 24 hours. In addition, we had also hosted a special promotion from July 27 to August 10 during which all German and English hand evaluation forums up to Gold were available to Bronze members.

PokerStrategy.com sets its focus on quality and as such, our hand judges are here to provide you with detailed and quality answers. If you have any additional questions, they are always willing to answer those as well. Among our hand judges, we would like to highlight veriz. Joining us in late 2010, he has already helped many PokerStrategists who are playing NL BSS. By December, he had already evaluated more than 1,000 threads!

We encourage you to take part in our hand evaluation forums and not only post your hands you wish to be evaluated, but join the discussions on various hands of other PokerStrategists as well.

The best coaching

Live coaching sessions offer you an invaluable way to improve your game. In December, many PokerStrategists tuned in to these sessions to take part in a win-win Christmas promotion. Whether being the lucky winner of our Christmas present or not, all participants of this promotion were winners, as simply taking part in our live coaching sessions greatly enhances your play.

Some of the new coaching sessions held in 2010 include FL Platinum coaching by byronjacobs and Omaha Coaching with Graham Ribchester, aka ribbo.

If you haven't attended our coaching sessions yet, don't hesitate to do so in 2011, as our coaches offer you a variety of sessions covering different game types and topics.

New tools for PokerStrategists - the Equilab

Solid poker knowledge is important if you want to work on your game, but you also need the right tools. This is why PokerStrategy.com introduced the Equilab in 2010. It allows you to calculate your equity against a specific hand or against a given range and you can also analyze the different equities based on which cards hit the board on flop, turn or river. Another functionality is the equity trainer throgh which you can improve your sense for equity with a given hand against a certain range.

We have already counted more than 35,000 downloads and considering that our development team around nopi is constantly working on improving the software, we are confident that we will see many more in 2011. You can find out more here.

Outlook for 2011

A total of 36 articles, 37 columns and 60 quizzes were created in 2010. In addition, 382 new videos were added to our English video section.

Our aim in 2011 is to not only bring you numerous new videos, articles and other content, but to ensure quality above all. As such, we will acquire new coaches to produce content for our members of highest ranks.
