Major Community Event: PokerStrategy.com League of Champions
38 freerolls, 4 buy-in tournaments, 18 match days, 4 playoff matches and a prize pool of over $65,000! This sums up the League of Champions, which is soon opening its tables to all PokerStrategists at PartyPoker.
Today we are presenting the PokerStrategy.com League of Champions (powered by PartyPoker), a community event for all PokerStrategists.
The League of Champions is a one of a kind community event which is played over a period of nearly three months. Our goal: An event for everyone, in which your skills at the poker table play a much bigger role than they would in a single big tournament.
Every one of you gets the chance to participate - there are over 16 qualification freerolls, 4 qualification tournaments with a buy-in and the community vote, as each language community at PokerStrategy.com gets to vote representatives from their communities into the league.
Core element is the league phase, in which 36 successful qualifiers get to prove their poker skills over the course of 18 match days. During the league phase there will also be community freerolls to start off each match day.
The total prize money we are giving away amounts to $65,300, and the winner of the league can look forward to $25,000.

How do I qualify for the league?
1) Win one of 20 qualification tournaments
- Time period: Daily, from 14.08 – 03.09
- 16 freeroll tournaments with a $300 prize pool each for all PokerStrategists
- 2x $11 MTTs and 2x $55 MTTs
- The winner of each tournament receives a ticket to the league
Starting times of the tournaments:
• Monday to Friday: 18:00 (GMT)
• Saturday: 20:00 (GMT)
• Sunday: 16:00 (GMT)
2) Get selected as champion by your community
Apply in this forum thread by 18.08.2010 and tell the community why you should be selected as the community champion to represent your community in the league.
- Make it through the pre-selection process and the community will vote for a champion in the forum polls
- Up to 16 players from 13 PokerStrategy.com communities can qualify for the league through the community vote
What does the league system look like?
- Time period: 15.09 - 26.10
- Open to up to 36 players who have qualified for the league
- 18 match days, weekly on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays
- Fifteen 36-player MTTs; the top 12 from each are awarded league points
- The last 3 match days boast a guaranteed prize pool of $2,000
- The five players who have the highest number of points after 18 match days make it to the playoffs
- Points are distributed in Formula 1 mode: The winner receives 15 points, rank 12 receives one point
- On each match day, there is one of 18 accompanying $500 community freerolls

- Rank 1: 15 points

Rank 4: 8 points
Rank 5: 7 points

Rank 7: 5 points
Rank 8: 4 points

How are the playoffs played?
- Time period: 30.10 - 07.11
- The five best players from the league will play in the playoffs, based on their number of points
- Playoffs are played in a "Best of 3" mode, the final is played in a "Best of 5" mode
- On each playoff day, there is one of four accompanying $500 community freerolls
