Community Round-up: The Next Best Thing
In this week's hottest thread, PokerStrategists have got a chance to discuss the next best thing after the invention of the wheel - Miss Russian Community 2010 election. While the voting part of our community debated who is the favourite to win this year, the grinding part was busy winning tournaments for our $1 million in a year challenge.

If you were not around during the past week and still want to be up to date with everything going on in our community, make sure you catch up with all the most exciting stuff here.
Find out what you may have missed.

Hot Thread of the Week
Invention of the wheel was a pretty sweet thing, but our arguably even better creation is the Miss Universe election, or in PokerStrategy.com's case, Miss Russian Community election. Yes, if you can't speak Russian, visiting their community web page won't be the most informative experience, since it's entirely "encrypted" in weird letters (some may know it as Cyrillic alphabet).
However, that didn't stop a fellow Russian from kindly opening a thread on the English-speaking territory in which he provided us with all the information we'd need to check out and vote for our favourite candidates in the Miss Russian Community 2010 election. So who are this year's finalists and who's the most favoured girl by our community thus far? Check out the thread and find out, voice your opinion and enjoy the pictures of our charming female PokerStrategists.
Poker Blog of the Week
It's one of those "if you missed it, it's not too late to start reading it" blogs that has found itself under spotlight this week. Started and continously updated by its owner utenosmelynas, this blog is about his progress from NL10 to the higher limits.
With a clear idea as to why he chose to write a blog and with lots of useful stuff coming from his pen on regular basis, his blog has quickly stuck out from the rest of the flock as one of those you definitely shouldn't miss out. Stop by in his blog if you wish to follow his progress, help him improve his game or find something that will help you improve your own.
Commit to Excellence. Growing up as a person.
New Community Members this Week
It's winter time and with less reasons to go out in cold, our new PokerStrategists had some extra time at hand to visit the introductory section of our forum and share their tales with us. Some of them have played poker before, some are about to play their first sessions and some have decided it was about time to return to the community after being absent for a while.
Here are some of the latest members of PokerStrategy.com who have taken a moment of their time to introduce themselves:
- nic01ae gave us a nice introduction of his poker story.
- alexd10 re-introduced himself after a long absence.
- jokin4party is a French fish that has just drifted into the English waters.
- dmalette is our latest newcomer from Ottawa.
We apologise for not being able to name everyone, but rest assured that even though your name did not make it on our weekly list, you are a valuable part of our community.
If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to post them in our forums. Our community members are some of the kindest and most knowledgeable poker players around and are ready to help you at any time.
All the best at the tables!

Performances of the Week
Santa Claus came to our town(s) some day or two ago, snow is falling (at least in many European countries) and PokerStrategists seem to be rolling with the Christmas spirit, accepting gifts from fishy opponents and taking down tournaments wherever they play.
Who were the most successful PokerStrategists in the past week or more precisely, who made the most notable performances? Take a look below at some of the best performances in the past week:
- darkzzz had a sick day at NL50.
- yougotfelted51 won a $10k Rush Guarantee for $2,624.60.
- pogodon won a total of $442.99 in various tourneys.
- alejandrosh cashed in two miniFTOPS events for a total of $628.
- natrphem is back in grinding mode, winning a total of $717.58 in various tourneys.
One Million in a Year - Total Winnings (Week 18): $302.301,27
It is safe to say the past week was not among the best ones in this season of the Million in a Year challenge. However, given the fact that it was Christmas and most of us were taking some time away from the poker tables, it was still a quite decent week with just enough winnings added to push us over the $300k mark.
With only eighteen weeks into the challenge, this is our most successful opening of a season by far. With various live tournaments coming next year and more and more PokerStrategists taking part in them, we can expect an exciting race towards that one million mark. Whether you are playing live or online tournaments, don't forget to post your winnings in the following thread:
