How bonecore completed the Bankroll Challenge
Our very own 'bonecore' turned $137 into $1,000, you can both read and watch how he did it!
Last week we shared the story of husky333 completing his Bankroll Challenge, today we have another recent winner.
bonecore started his challenge in May and last month finally turned his $137 starting roll into $1,000. He has already started a new challenge to get to $2,000.
We caught up with the man himself to learn how he did it, and what comes next:
"I'm investing in a new set-up
Congrats on completing your challenge, will you be spending all your winnings on your girlfriend?
bonecore: Lol, of course not! I already invested some in a great setup - new PC, chair , monitor, and soon a new desk
You built your roll up from NL5 to NL25. What were the major differences in these stakes, and how did you adapt?
bonecore: When you are learning it is important to concentrate. So I cut the number of tables that I played in order to improve. At NL10 I learned to 3-bet properly. At NL25 I added more lines to my repertoire for 3-bet pots.
What advice would you give to players struggling at NL5?
bonecore: Other than get help from w34z3l and Double2, I would say:
- You do not need to 3-bet at NL5 so much to win because people make loads of mistakes postflop. So first you need good opening ranges, calling ranges and calling 3-bet ranges.
- Postflop is where people lose their money to you. I think if I would play 40/20 at NL5 I'd win over 10bb/100. Go and learn the basic lines from all the basic videos.
- When bluffing, do not try to bluff people off top pair - they will not fold!
"I don't want to play anyone famous"
What is your ultimate poker goal? Are there any poker celebrities you would like to face at the tables? Or do you prefer the easy games?
bonecore: I would not want to play anyone, but I would like Daniel Negreanu's new Tesla car.
In the end Poker should be an opportunity to gain the necessary funds to start a nice business in real life.
So, my ultimate poker goal would actually be to crush at real life instead.
If you had the choice of two super powers - being able to fly or being able read people's minds, which would you choose and why?
bonecore: Reading people thoughts would make me sad, so I'd prefer to fly on a K6 GSX-R 1000!

bonecore: It was in a $78 pot, but luckily I was the one dishing it out.
