Poker Blog of the Week
Another great blog for you again this week, this time from community member yaxkukmian.
yaxkukmian is using his blog to set himself various challenges and has just finished his third one, an Sng challenge. Whilst he's not able to play poker that often, he is obviously enjoying the challenges and using all of the learning materials at his deposal. I can't wait to see what interesting challenge he has for us next.
Great blog yaxkukmian, keep it going and good luck. 🙂
Sample Hand of the Week
Something slightly different this week, how about a sample hand actually posted by a PokerStrategy Judge? Well I saw this hand and liked the way
Judge grummeler talks us through the theory and decision making on a difficult hand he came across.
Action takes place in the WCOOP (Event #9):
No-Limit Hold'em, $700.00 BB (9 handed)
Hero (MP1) ($48574)
MP2 ($49935)
MP3 ($24083)
CO ($37280)
Button ($26799)
SB ($66778)
BB ($15362)
UTG ($11540)
UTG+1 ($64118)
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K
, A
UTG bets $2100, UTG+1 raises $5000, Hero raises $13000, 3 folds, Button raises $26714, 4 folds, Hero calls $13714
Flop: ($61578) 2
, J
, 6
(2 players)
Turn: ($61578) 5
(2 players)
River: ($61578) K
(2 players)
Total pot: $61578
Judge grummeler:
- UTG is a smallie (short stack) and I don't care about his raise with my AKs
- UTG+1 was Supernova (High PokerStars status) with very agressive stats preflop like 20/15 and 14% 3bet
over 90 hands and I saw him 3betting/folding sometimes so I think
here he HAS a good hand but he surely will isolate him with TT,JJ,AQ+
so that I can make him fold his low pairs and AQ and might fold to a
shove from him. I don't want to call because of the potsize and I would
have to fold to a lot of cbets and so on, so I 4bet. - then suddently the button pushes all in !!!! He pushes against utg raise, utg+1 3bets, I 4bet and he shoves anyways.
- so first of all I'm getting 4:1 odds for the call which means I need 20% equity to justify a call here.
- If I put him on AA+
I dont have the equity I need thats for sure, but if I give him KK+ I have 23% equity and can call, if I give him QQ+ I have more then 30% equity and have an easy call. - This was the toughest hand but with 4:1 odds I called because it would
bring me in a SUPER situation (80 players before bubble) to attack
relentlessly on the bubble and I will still have the chance to come
back if I lose. So I decided after long thoughts to call here.

Hot Thread of the week
One of the hot threads this week has actually been Boku's 2nd challenge. Started back in July, this challenge didn't quite run as smoothly as his first with a lot of discussion about going bust and having to be restaked $5 by PokerStars and a recent downswing. Incredible all the same and good to follow
Another super hot thread at the moment is nickparkes's "Best opponent name?", this is always worth revisiting regularly and never ceases to make me smile:
And finally...
It frequently happens, you lose a hand you should've won, followed by another, then another, the world seems against you and all too quickly tilt can follow and things get broken. Why not record them in community member berzerger's new thread:
As always, this is your Community page and whilst I try to browse most
forum threads looking for points of interest, it's of course not
possible to cover everything. So go on, drop me some suggestions and/or
your thoughts on what you would like to appear in this Round-up news
item in the feedback thread.
