Poker differs from games like chess since the results are often deceptive. Here's an example:
You've bluffed on the river but your opponent decided to call. The hand is lost. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the bluff was a bad play. Maybe on average your opponent would have folded often enough? But how would you be able to find out something like that?
In poker everything depends on the question whether you're able to assess your opponent correctly or not. In order to improve your skill in this regard you should regularly seek the opinions of other members of our community.
